Built for people who moved to Zurich
You should not have to decode a workout in a second language.
Most gyms in Zurich run their classes in German or in Swiss German. That works until
somebody is correcting the way you stand, the way you turn your hip, the way you breathe.
Technique is taught through language, and a correction you only half understand
is a correction you cannot use.
Here the whole session runs in English, or in German, Italian, French or
Portuguese if you prefer. You arrive, you train, you understand every word.
No membership
Book a single session and decide afterwards. No joining fee, no contract, no notice period to cancel.
No group
One coach, one person. The session is built around your level and your goal, not around twenty people at once.
Flexible hours
Early mornings, lunch breaks and evenings. Useful if your calendar moves around, as most do.
Start from zero
Most clients had never worn gloves before their first session. You are not behind, there is nobody to be behind.
What people actually come for
Boxing is the method. What you use it for is your call.
Very few people who train here want to fight. They want to get strong, clear their
head after a day of screens, or finally learn something that demands full attention.
Boxing happens to be one of the best tools for all three: it works the whole body,
it needs your concentration, and it never turns into counting repetitions.
You will not be hit. In private training there is no exchange of punches.
You hit pads and the heavy bag. Sparring is optional and only for advanced boxers who ask for it.
How a session works
So you know what you are booking. Around 60 minutes.
5 min
Arrive and set the goal
How you are, how the week went, what we are working towards. In a first session we look at your starting point in more detail.
10 min
Warm up
Rope, mobility, shoulders and hips. Adjusted to your level. Nobody gets tired before the actual training starts.
15 min
Technique
Stance, footwork, straight punches, defence. Slow and in front of the mirror until the movement holds. This is the part that makes the difference.
15 min
Pads
You punch, I hold and correct on the spot. This is where you first feel what a clean punch actually feels like.
10 min
Bag, strength and conditioning
Rounds on the bag plus core and bodyweight work. The part that leaves the shirt wet.
5 min
Close
Stretching, short feedback, and what we take on next time. You leave with a plan, not just sore muscles.

In short: a club is excellent value if you speak the language, can make the fixed
class times and are happy to progress at the group's pace. A gym membership is cheap, and most
people stop going within three months. Private coaching costs more per hour and is the fastest
way to learn the technique properly from the first session.

Frequently asked questions
What people new to Zurich ask most often.
Are the lessons really taught in English?
Yes, the entire session. German, Italian, French and Portuguese are also available. You never have to follow a correction in a language you are still learning.
Do I need any experience?
No. Most people start having never worn gloves. Because it is 1:1, the pace follows your level rather than a group's.
Will I get hit?
No. There is no exchange of punches in private training. You hit pads and the bag. Sparring is optional and only for advanced boxers who ask for it.
Is there a membership or a contract?
No. Book a trial session for CHF 80 and decide afterwards. Packages exist but are never required, and there is no notice period.
Am I too old or too out of shape?
No, and this is exactly what 1:1 is for. Intensity and volume follow you. Complete beginners train here alongside people over 50.
Do I need my own equipment?
Not for the trial session. Gloves and wraps are provided. Bring sports clothing, indoor shoes and something to drink.
Where is the gym and how do I get there?
Boxgym Altstetten, Badenerstrasse 569, 8048 Zurich, a few minutes from Zurich Altstetten station. Training at your home, outdoors or over video call is also possible.
I am only in Zurich for a few months. Does that work?
Yes. Since there is no membership, short stays are no problem. Some clients book a handful of sessions, others train for years.
